Privacy Policy

Polytrack is committed to protecting your personal data and being transparent about the information we collect, why we collect it, and how you can control it across our websites, game services, and community tools.

1. Who we are

Polytrack ("we", "us", "our") operates the browser racing game, related APIs, and community experiences available at polytrack.best. If you have questions about this policy, email [email protected].

2. Information we collect

  • Account data: Email address, display name, and game preferences when you create an optional profile.
  • Gameplay telemetry: Anonymous lap times, ghost replay metadata, and error logs used to improve stability.
  • Device data: Browser type, language, and approximate region derived from IP for localisation.
  • Community submissions: Track files, forum posts, and support tickets you voluntarily send to us.

3. How we use information

We process data to:

  • Provide the core gameplay experience, leaderboards, and saved ghost data.
  • Deliver support responses, bug fixes, and content updates you request.
  • Analyse performance and detect abuse to keep Polytrack fair and secure.
  • Send product announcements (only if you opt in to marketing email).

4. Legal bases

We rely on one of the following legal grounds depending on context: performance of a contract (running the game), legitimate interest (preventing abuse, improving service), consent (optional analytics or marketing), or compliance with legal obligations.

5. Storage and retention

Your data is stored on encrypted servers in the European Union with redundant backups. We retain account data while your profile is active. Gameplay telemetry is anonymised after 90 days. Support tickets are kept for up to 24 months unless you request deletion earlier.

6. Sharing and third parties

We only share data with service providers who help us operate Polytrack:

  • Cloud infrastructure partners hosting the game and database.
  • Email and helpdesk providers that deliver support correspondence.
  • Telemetry and error reporting services that monitor crashes.
  • Google AdSense / Google Ireland Limited — We use Google AdSense to display advertisements. Google may use cookies and similar technologies to serve ads based on your prior visits to our site or other websites. Google's advertising cookies enable it and its partners to serve ads based on your browsing history. You can opt out of personalised advertising by visiting Google Ads Settings.

We do not sell personal data. Every vendor is contractually bound to protect information and use it solely for Polytrack services.

7. Cookies

Polytrack uses the following categories of cookies:

  • Essential cookies: Required for authentication, security, and basic site functionality. These cannot be disabled.
  • Analytics cookies: Help us understand how players interact with the game and website so we can improve the experience. These are optional and only activated with your consent.
  • Advertising cookies: Used by Google AdSense and its partners to deliver relevant advertisements. These cookies may track your browsing activity across different websites and devices. Advertising cookies are optional and only activated with your consent.

Google AdSense cookies in detail: When you consent to advertising cookies, Google may set the following:

  • DoubleClick DART cookie (__gads, __gpi): Used to serve personalised ads based on your browsing history across websites. These cookies enable Google and its ad partners to display ads that are relevant to you.
  • Ad personalisation cookies: Used to build a profile of your interests and show you ads that match those interests, both on Polytrack and on other websites you visit.
  • Ad measurement cookies: Used to measure the effectiveness of ad campaigns — for example, whether you clicked on an ad or later visited an advertiser's website. This helps advertisers understand their return on investment.
  • Conversion tracking cookies: Used by Google to track actions you take after viewing or clicking an ad, such as making a purchase or signing up for a service.

Google and its partners may use these cookies across devices (desktop, mobile, tablet) to deliver consistent ad experiences. You can manage your cookie preferences via the consent banner displayed on your first visit, or by adjusting your browser settings.

To opt out of personalised advertising:

For more information about how Google uses cookies for advertising, see Google's advertising privacy page and How Google uses information from sites or apps that use our services.

Local storage is also used to cache assets for offline access and to remember your cookie preferences.

9. California consumer privacy (CCPA)

If you are a California resident, the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA) grants you additional rights:

  • Right to know: You may request information about the categories and specific pieces of personal data we have collected about you in the past 12 months, the purposes of collection, and the categories of third parties with whom data was shared.
